In an effort to keep our visitors informed and up to speed on the "basics" of most technologies and techniques, we have put together this tutorial section. Please browse through the summaries below to find the tutorial that you are looking for and if it is not found, please send us your suggestions.

Putting Your School on the Web
This is a great ten-week lesson plan you can use with your students to build a class web page. You will need some coding knowledge to implement it. For those of you who need a more intensive tutorial on web pages and coding, the second CD of the Teacher’s Tech Tutor series contains a comprehensive tutorial. Your school has a minimum of ten packages of the three CD series. It may be on your computer desktop. If you do not have access to it, contact your school administrator, or your school or district technology coordinator.

When you access the second CD:

  1. Select Authoring on the main menu
  2. Select Web Design from the sub menu
  3. Select Building a Web Page

Network Basics
Networking is everywhere. All companies, big and small are using it to organize their offices. Computers are difficult enough as it is without having to maintain more then one so we have this little tutorial to give you a starting edge.

Cleaning your computer
Until they create a washing machine we can just dump our computers into, we suggest this little workshop in the meantime.

Suggestions
We would like to know what you want to see here. Please send us your suggestions for tutorials or your comments about the tutorials that are already in place.

Learning through games
Many games are available that can be used to provide variety to the typical multiple choice quizzes that are commonly found on-line.

Try these three games:

  • Millionaire game.
In the millionaire game, play just like you are vying for the big million! Answer all the questions correctly and you've won! Miss just one question and walk away with your total winnings. When the game is over, the window will close itself. While the money isn't real, the fun certainly is!

  • Mystery game.
The mystery game is a an opportunity to fill in the blanks, literally! You are given a word at random and a clue as to what that word might be, you guess letters that might be in the word, and if they are right, they will appear in the hidden word. You get five wrong guesses, and if you lose, it's "game over"!

  • 21 game.
In this game you are given 21 points to begin with, and then asked a series of 15 questions. The idea is to keep all your points until the very end. Every right answer moves you on to the next question with the same amount of points, and every wrong answer deducts 3 points from your total. If you hit 0 before answering all the questions, it's "game over" and the window will close.
