"Let us think of education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone and greater strength for our nation."
- John F. Kennedy

We have decided to kick off the month of July by recognizing the accomplishments of a teacher from South Dakota. June Ackman of Groton Elementary School submitted a nomination for our Vital Educator's Award on behalf of her colleague Nancy Cutler. In her nomination June had the following top say about Ms. Cutler:.

"Nancy is a very positive and progressive individual. She is always looking for new ideas to hook her kids on learning. It is always so much fun to go into her classroom to see what the first graders are engrossed in. Her kids become very 'computer savy' early on and do many projects and activities on the computer. Nancy is in charge of our grotontigers.com page and has designed the title page, 1st grade page, as well as others. She is so very deserving of your award."

A visit to the Web page of Groton Elementary provides ample evidence of the hard work of Ms. Cutler. We were particularly impressed with the 1st Grade Web site she has created. Be sure to check out the pictures, Ms. Cutler's Summertime pages, and the archives of past sites.

We are thus pleased to present Ms. Cutler with our Vital Educator's Award. You certainly prepare your students for the challenges technology presents for tomorrow. May your summer be fruitful, relaxing, and a well deserved rest from another school year.
