May 3, 2001 You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself." -Galileo Profile: Mrs. Margaret McClatchey, Shawnee Mission North High School, Overland Park, KS Emporium State University recently presented a Kansas Master Teacher Award for the year 2001 to Margaret McClatchey. The annual award is presented to teachers who "… have served the profession long and well and who also typify the good qualities of earnest and conscientious teachers". Mrs. McClatchey is a Performing Arts teacher at Shawnee North who has made valuable contributions to the North theatre program. As evident in comments from students and colleagues she also makes a lasting impression on those who are fortunate to work with her or have her as a teacher. Her commitment to her students and to her chosen profession is clearly evident in her Teaching Philosophy. We are thus pleased to congratulate and present today's Vital Educator Award to Mrs. Margaret McClatchey.
