2003 Activity List


December 2003 - Identify personality types of fictional characters

Objective 
To identify that personality types of fictional characters thus increasing student understanding of psychological types.
 
Time
45 minutes.
 
Directions
Divide the class into groups. Assign a fictional character to each group. Ask them to identify what they feel are the main personality characteristics for their character. Have them identify specific descriptors for their character and examples of behaviors that indicate these descriptors.
 
Once students have had the opportunity to draw their conclusions, bring them back to the larger group and have them share their findings with the larger group. Encourage discussion to see if the larger group agrees with their findings.
 
Variations
• Assign the same character to two groups. When finished, bring them back to the larger group and have them compare the results.
 
Suggested Fictional Characters
The following are characters you may choose for this activity. We think their unique personalities should enable students to easily identify dominant and auxiliary functions.
You may also choose to select characters not listed here.

June 2003 - Computer Activity

Are you looking for an activity for your last week of school? You may be interested in taking your students to a computer lab and having the search the Internet to find the answers to the following questions. Note that in this activity we do not provide the Internet address as we do in other Web Quests. This activity, therefore, will also give your students the opportunity to strengthen their research skill using search engines. There are a wide variety of search engines your students may use. Some of the more popular are Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

Challenge your students to come up with the answers to the following questions. Ask them to include the Internet address they found each answer at.

  1. When do students in Australia have their summer break?

  2. List the top five medal winning countries at last year's Commonwealth Games held in England.

  3. What is the smallest Canadian province?

  4. What ballpark do the Houston Astros play in?

  5. List the last five presidents of the United States.

  6. Where are the next Winter Olympics being held?

  7. In what year did the Berlin Wall fall?

  8. If it is midnight in New York, what time is it in Oakland, California?

  9. What day of the week does Christmas fall on this year?

  10. Who is the Prime Minister of India?

May 2003 - School Clean up day

May is traditionally the time we spend cleaning up our school grounds and neighborhoods. A certificate for participating in school clean up day is this month's activity.
